I have a 94 Chrysler LeBaron with 99K+ miles - it just recently started making a pinging noise from the rear end, when I turn.  Sharper the turn, louder the noise.  I replaced the inner and outer wheel bearings, to no avail.  Any suggestions?

I've just started having the same problem with my 95 LeBaron (120,000 miles).  My mechanic had a heck of a time locating the problem.  His quote was "The iron rod running through the rear housing is rusting."  He says it is not a safety issue, but the noise will be very annoying until we replace the rear housing.  He tells me there should have been a recall on this. Does anyone out there know of one?

This has happened to me.   There is a nut that just needs to be tighted a few turns.  You can find the nut where the rear strut attatches to the body.  I just used a socket wrench.
