YOU CAN BY PC KEYBOARD SEND ALL INFORMATION TO MICRO CONTROLLER TO EASILY BY FIVE LINE
1-CLOCK 2-TX 3-RX 4-VCC 5-VDD

I would also like to know how to interface a PS/2 keyboard and power it.  Funny, that keyboards have 8051 controllers in them...

In PS/2 key board five pins are there vcc,gnd,clk,data. clk and data pins are connected to controller through any of ports. Read the status of clk pin. if you press any key clk pin goes low to high and you receive a bit. For each key press a sigle bit data is received. read 8 bits for each data, left shift and ORed to get a byte value that should be compared with look up table in ascii. and corresponding character we can get
