When most people speak, they are not letting their voice ride on their breath.  Think of the voice as riding on a carpet of air.

Practice breathing out  saying "ahhhh" for an entire outbreath.  Then gradually  start with saying one word on each breath out:   e.g. "my"    "name"    "is"   "ozzie"     "gontang"

Then begin saying on one out breath:  e.g.  "my name is ozzie gontang."

So what happens is many people are holding their breath partially as they speak.  The above exercise helps put the voice upon the breath on the exhalation.
