If both computers are cable ready and don't need a hub what kind of cable do I need.

To connect two computers without a hub or switch a crossover cable is needed.

On one end connect the RJ-45 as a straight through connection. On the other end cross-over cables 1(white/orange) with 3(white/green) and 2(orange) with 6(green).
