Hi. I'm an Oracle DBA with next to no IMAP/SMTP/mailer experience, so please don't assume anything is too obvious for me!

After having started trying to build an IMAP server from scratch using University of Washington source code, I came across the following suggesting that AIX comes 'pre-supplied' with an IMAP server - http://inetsd01.boulder.ibm.com/pseries/ca_ES/aixbman/commadmn/ml_imap_pop.htm

Having done what this link suggested, I am able to telnet from e.g. Windows onto AIX port 143 and talk IMAP.

From Oracle Financials, I'm able to send SMTP mail to Outlook. From Outlook, I can reply and see this reply arrive in an AIX user's mailbox. But this response does not find its way back into Financials.

Oracle are suggesting that this is not working because the IMAP server is not IMAP4-compliant. As a newbie, it's hard for me to argue that it is compliant, but the following suggest to me that it is - "* OK ireaix2.cork.intl.pepsi.com IMAP4rev1 v10.190 server ready" and "* CAPABILITY IMAP4 IMAP4REV1 SCAN SORT AUTH=LOGIN"

Can anyone tell me categorically whether the IMAP server that ships with AIX 5.2 is IMAP4-compliant? And, even better, can anyone suggest what I might have missed in terms of AIX set up that is preventing Oracle Financials from 'picking up' the email response from the AIX user's mail box?

Thanks very much in advance for any suggestions.
Regards,
Jes
