Single-sex school are better than coeducational schools

Countless studies have found that boys are shortchanged when it comes to co-ed schools. Boys are different to Girls physically, and psycologically, and girls have very different leaning styles to boys, so why are we trying to put them into just one very cramped box. I am NOT saying that all boys go in one box and all girls go in another, there are always exceptions, but the psychcological differences need to be recognised. With most teachers being women, they teach to their learning style, and without meaning to leave the boys struggling at the back, no not all of them but enough for people to realise there is a problem that needs to be adressed, 70% of special ed student are boys, this isnt because boys are inherantly dumber than girls, but because they have been shortchanged by the system. Most single-sex schools are also private schools, and most private schools generally have more money to spend on better facilities and smaller class sizes. Single sex schools are academically better than coed, and which is more important, spending your days with the opposite gender, or getting a better education. My opinion is full of generalizations to which there are many exceptions, but exception do not make up the majority.

First Of all I just want to say that Private schools in almost every situation never get as much money as public schools, because private schools are never federally funded. However, Private schools in general have smaller class sizes. But, despite that you also have to factor in that there is no distraction of the opposite in the case of single-sex schools . As to the argument of not being able to interact with the opposite in a single-sex environment; there are several flaws with that. First of all the purpose of school is not to date people, it is to learn. I do understand that interaction with the other gender is beneficial to prepare students for life outside of high school, but that can happen outside of school easily. My Opinion is that single-sex schools can be good in most situations

I am on a debate team and researching on this topic.We are supporting single sex schools. I am in a co-ed school. I must say what i have read in over 100 sites and it is that in single sex schools we are academically better but here understanding of the other sex is better. So my opinion is that both single and co-ed schools have pros and cons. Nothing is prefect. More importantly is that you should let your child chose because they are the one going to the school. Ask them what they are comfortable with. Ask them to give you reasons why they what to go to this type of school. It maybe because their friends are going to that school. They can always make new friends but thats not true some of them may not be good at socializing. Whatever the outcome is remember you can always change schools.

coed schools are much better because there have been studies that single sex schools increase the number of homosexuals due to being isolated from the opposite sex. Also coed schools are better because they provide awareness of each others health issues. In single sex schools there are usually proms and since its single sex school then you would have to arrange blind dates and blind dates are not always safe. If both genders were put into the same room and both genders are from single sex schools you would probably see a gap in the middle dividing both gender since they don't have socializing or interaction between them. Also everyone has to go to college or a university and usually those are coed and being in a coed school provides the experience with the opposite gender which single sex schools cant. Increases socializing skills

on the issue of "being brought up around the same sex"... i am so frustrated reading some of these comments cuz i went to a single sexed school and i knew PLENTY of boys and so did all the rest of the girls at my school :) i had bfs all thru years 10 11 and 12 and i spent my weekends socialising with both girls AND boys, i felt i was able to separate my social life from my academic life much more easily, since before startin at a single sexed school i was at a co-ed school. i am not socially disadvantaged because i went to a single sexed school, just because someone goes to a single sexed school doesnt mean all they ever talk to or see are all girls or all boys... they even have school events and functions with other all boys or girls schools.. why dont people get that?! lol what is this about increased homosexuals at single sexed schools?! no one at my school was lesbian out of yrs 10 11 12 (about 500 girls) and none of the guys that i knew from all guys schools had any homosexuals in thier classes? at least no more than any other co-ed school.. what about people that DONT have contact with the opposite sex out of school you say? well that would be an exeption, these people would be in the group of society that have lesser social skills and i ask you to wonder would that minority end up socialising with males at a co-ed school anyways? so as far as im concerned the whole "social problem" of single sexed schools does not exist :) thankyou

i have been to both a co-ed and single sex school and single sex would have to be so much better than co-ed all the girl are sex driven maniaks who only focus on the boys and not there school work they take hours n hours at lunch time to re-apply there make up n do there hair n another hour to do it in the morning............if only the teachers knew what was really going on down at the back of the oval?! all the girls n boys muck around in class just to impress the opposite sex at single sex no one cares about it they sit down in class and listen to the teachers n do what they have to do instead of impressing other people....SINGLE SEX SCHOOL ARE THE WAY TO GO.......if someone wants a better education for there child then they would have to go with single sex sot eh children can concentrate in class instead of loosing focus

i have to rite a speech on this topic, and the debates in this site are amazing to be split between to different answers and the conflict in verbal abuse here is high. I am going out with a girl in a single sex school and she is not achieving a higher or lower grade than me to see that u people rite that ss schools have better academic approaches is entirely not true even though people who go to single sex schools have a higher student teacher ratio that doesnt increase their academic achievement it is mostly to do with wat type of person u r and wat your social factors and family factors are and how they influence your life. and for Mr. Wonderful sex is not a bad word

I have never been to a co-ed school, so can only speak from a single sex educational experience. Minds can still wander whether the pupil as at a single sexed or co-ed institution, there are enough other things apart from guys\girls to distract pupils from lessons. I didn't know any people of the opposite sex right up until the last couple of years, and even then those that I now know were either met through part time work or friends of friends. I never meet them in a social situation. While I have found that I am perfectly able to interact with the opposite sex at work, I find it nearly impossible to interact with them on a social level in person. I feel this is directly due to my lack of exposure to the opposite sex right through key stages of my childhood development. Anyway, we'll see what happens at uni.

I'm an 11th grader at a coed school and I'm doing and extra credit paper on this topic debating over whether or not single-sexed schools are better than coed. Throughout my research I have learned that you really can't say unless you've experienced both. This year however I have discussed with my parents about possibly going to an all girls school for my senior year if possible, just for the experience. I still can't decide whether or not though if I deffinently want to go or not since they both have their own advantages and disadvantages. If a girl can't live without a guy and just has to go to a coed school...well...that doesn't even make sense, their not going to get very far in life.

There are two groups of peopel some said that single sex schools are better for a student's education. But others believe that coeducational schools are the most helpful for both gender girls and boys to have some information which cannot take from the school or the family environment. Thus, and in my opinion, befor we chose the kind of the school we should know what kind of education we want to offer to our children.Moreover when the boy looks for the other gender nothing can stop him he will do what he can to get what he wants so the single sex school cannot offer anything special. As a conclusion coeducationla schools are better by offering both special education (the secrets of boys and gilrs) and the chance to have the real love. ;-)

I'm starting a all girls' school on monday my first responce was' I dont wanna go cos ill be around lesbos and all that' yesterday I went to the school and saw how the girls r to one and other. cos we have diffrent gorls like tomboys girly girls goths sluts lol etc. its just like being in a mixed skool they talk about boys as would any group of girls hair make up and that. stuff. Now that I see how they r towards one another my responce now would be 'I guess it wont be so bad' its only cos I am I tomboy which means I like sports and that. but I still think mixed schools r better just to the fact that u gotta explore wat kinda person u r if u like to hang around with boys, if u like to hang with girls and your sexuality (whather your gay and wat not)

Well...i find one thing hard to understand when i read these statments...alot of the people that are 'for' single sex school have no stats or evidience...why is that...i have any recent experienced opinion of single sex schools and co-ed... yes SOME students work better without the opposite sex around...BUT i believe most of the time in a co-ed school there is a high standered of co-operation in the classroom...therefore makes is easier for 'GIRLS' to work...but males generaly don't work aswell in co-ed because there is a strong feild of competion and in the end everything boils down to showing off for the girls...but with all that said and done...65% of single sex schools are for females...why is that...but i truley belive alot of parents send there daughters to a sinlge sex school for just the simple answer of..'i want to keep her away from boys...so she can study'...well parents...let me say this...by sendinbg your daughter to a single sex school you are not just keeping your daughter away from males...but you are making her lust after them...want them ten-times-more than if she was at a co-ed schools...so people how thinks i am wrong..get experience...get stats...and prove me wrong...because study is not as important as learning how to live...

Im doing a debate on this at school - saying that xo-ed schools are better - i agree and i do go to a co-ed school Heres my answer (almost liek a practice 4 me) Co-ed schools are better for several reasons 1) Its forms a more realistic view on society. In single sex schools it has been found in studies that stereotypical gender images become more of a problem - guyts have to be more masculine and girls become more caring and unassertive. Why the hell would we seperate ourselves from the other sex for 10-12 years of schooling only to have to work next to them in the workplace. Going to a co-ed school prepares you for real life and the workforce and gives you practice at interacting with members of the opposite sex. 2) Academically it is no different. Theres lots of studies that say that single sex schools perform better academically. This is untrue because this difference is not because of there being one or two genders but becasue of selectivity. In single sex schools the school is allowed to select students more rigourously - and so only the better students get in. So if you factor in the variables of socoioeconmic statuas etc. the is little or no difference between the schools. 3) Single sex schools wonk work prvatley. i think what some of you people are saying about homosexuality in schools is quite confusing i go to a co-ed schools and know around 10 people who are lesbian or homosexual her and about another 5 who are bisexual, this is all i know of, and if your at a single sex schools people may feel more pressure on them when comming out because people will feel more offended and thretened by them because they are all chicks or dudes yet at a co-ed school guys are generally very accepting of chicks being lesbian and guys are chicks are very accepting of guys being homosexual. I also know quite a few people from single sex schools who are lesbian and homosexual so maybe people feel thretened by telling people at single sex schools who they truly are because they know or think you will most proably flip out

I believe that single sex schools are way better than a public school. There are many girls now that all they do some of the time is try to impress the boys. And when they weren't up to there standards they feel put down. Also by other girls because they make fun of what that person is wearing. Most single sex schools have uniforms and that is a good thing because you can be who you really are when you are at school. Nobody can really put you down for what you are wearing. And it doesn't matter if your hair is done or you have make up on because there is nobody to impress. You are just going to school to learn not to impress anyone.There are really no distractions so everybody really studies hard to get good grades and then you get into a great college. So i think that single sex school are a good thing.

I went to a co-ed high school, and a single-sex college, and feel that I got the best of all worlds as far as developing my social skills and assertiveness, as well as obtaining an education, are concerned. In the U.S., teenagerhood has a lot to do with discovering the dynamics of relations between the two sexes. On the other hand, for girls who go to all-girl high schools, they usually are encouraged at a younger age to follow their own aspirations, and tolove education for its own sake (this is my impression). For my daughter, I would send her to a coed school and encourage her to go to a single sex college. However, my friends at college who went to girls schools seemed to feel like they were missing out on something. I would allow that daughter to follow her natural inclination, which would probably be to try a coed environment. To be honest, you miss out on nothing at a single-sex college in the U.S. as far as meeting and being friends with men goes, except gender-related harassment and intimidation in class from your classmates. And there is a lot to gain as a result.

I am currently Researching this Topic for my Ap English class... We are typing an argument paper. On the subject of same-sex schools, I believe them to be not as beneficial and here are my reasonings. Going to a same sex school Retards the social development of a gender. When a person from a same sex school graduates They aren't going to be up on how to handle girls in their environment or boys in their environment. They will not be prepared for the real world, boys and Girls work together all the time, Even in the rugged manly jobs Such as construction. and I commend women for that. Same-sex schools Reduce a sense of empathy for The genders. how will a boy know what to say to a girl to not make her emotionally uncomfy and vis vrs. but my major concern Is the social Diversity. me being a Gay male, If I was not in a Co-ed school i would probably be so lost and uncomfy. The girls I talk to hear are like my life saviors. Yes i have some guy friends. but most girls I find to relate better. Back to the subject. Some guys relate better to girls and some girls relate better to guys. by shunning them off you are taking away for them to have a chance to be happy. Now along with my list I have included some pro aspects of this topic of discussion. There are less distractions. and there is less "teen" Premarital Sex. It promotes self esteem based on Gender. and there would be curriculum's based on gender. i do see positive aspects on this topic. but The cons out way the pros I'm afraid. but this is my opinion!

well,I am confused with this problem right now. Which one is better? I'm just wondering. I'm always put in a coed school, elementary school, secondary school, high school, and now university. I am always surrounded by both boys and girls. When I was a teenager, there didn't seem to have any problem. Boys and girls are happy and harmonious together. We discuss our academic work in school , and we also hang over together to have fun, u know, party or things like this. We did enjoy ourselves. I have many male friends and female friends as well. And we keep on contact with each other till now. But from my prospective, boys and girls should better to be separated when in college. As it is known to us , boys and girls at most cases have definitely different way of thinking , they have different interests too. If been separated, maybe it is better for them to learn more they like

Hi, I am in high school and I am doing a debate on the topic; single sex schools are better than co-ed. We are on the affirmative side. I go to an all girls school, but I went to a co-ed school for primary school. I have done a ton of research on this to find new points, and I definitely think that single sex schools are better, not only because of the academic part, but also because of the confidence part. I always felt a bit intimidated at primary school when I got the answer to a question wrong and the boys would laugh. At high school, all the girls respect each other, and no-one really cares if you get a question wrong. We do tons of activities with local boys schools, like dances, plays and musicals, and most of the girls in my class have boyfriends. If you really want a boy/girl friend but go to a single sex school, get out and meet people. I know tons of boys, not really boyfriends, through family, primary school and karate. Oh my GOD. Okay. So I go to a co-ed school. Right. Now, get this. Students have lives outside of school. Hard to believe, right? Yeah, I thought so too. But with friends from primary school, meeting new people at secondary school, and (although I hate to say it) people using crap like MySpace, it's becoming more and more easy to meet people. INCLUDING THE OPPOSITE SEX. Girls Schools don't spew out rug-munchers, and boys schools' students don't go around grabbing ass and rocking cock 24/7. It depends what you want from your kid. There's no right or wrong, it's just personal preference. Personally, I prefer co-ed. Because, yeah, people are right; you need the experience with girls. But if you want the grades, kick your kids' ass off to single sex. That is all.

I am now in college and I am so glad that I went to a co-ed school. I believe that the world is not just boys or not just girls, its both, lets face it. A lot of people just can't seem to get that fact out of their heads!! And for the part where the students perform better at single sex schools, thats bull! There are plenty of brilliant students from the private co-ed high school I went to and I know that it wasn't just my school. How smart the kid is doesn't depend on if there is a boy in the room or not, it depends on how much knowledge is in their heads! If a student can't learn in a room with male and females then how are they going to perform at a job? Better enough, how are they going to perform in college, the place at which depends if you even go anywhere with your life? One last thing, I remember all my friends that went to all girl schools always begging me to bring guy friends around; thats one thing they lack, because they were so deprived. And also now, the few that came to college with me are going crazy and don't know how to behave and are doing a lot of dumb things which co-ed students learned way back freshman year of high school. To sum it up, I am against single sex schools!!!!!

I am going to talk about the benefits about why schools should not be co-educational. Firstly, if girls work with boys, some of the boys would bully the girls, which makes the girls feel insecure at school. Secondly, because boys are rough at playing some types of sport, it may be unsuitable for the girls to play along with, so it would be unfair. Thirdly, girls and boys would feel more comfortable being with their same gender. Girls have a very different learning skill to boys, because girls to tend to do different activities compared to the boys. Most co-educational schools are private schools, as a result the private school gets more money and the money is used for better facilities at school. It is more useful for being in co-educational school and to learn more, than to be with the opposite gender. I am doing debate in front of my whole school, so that is why I know.

madz: we are at school at the moment! we go to a single sex skool and i LOVE it! i know that if i went to skool with my boyf i would be destracted and want to spend time with him alot. but he goes to an all boys skool (one that we have socials with-thats how i met him) we have been together for a year and are going really well. so anyone who says because u go to a same sex skool you dont socialise with the opposite sex IS WRONG!!! i went to a co-ed primary skool, but here ther is a totally diff atmosphere and i really love it :) Lizzie: Km u sound gay as if you think that people that go 2 a private same sex school are more likely to be homosexuals.I love being at the same sex school n i no lots of boys outside of shool. I bet you dont even have a girlfriend or a boyfriend!!!!!

well the begging entries of this whole thing was good...but near the end most of them suck. well im writing an essay right now against single sex schools. so i just need some ideas to get me going...i go to a co ed school and im in 9th grade so yea idk. i belive single sex schools do put both genders at a disadvantage. if you go to a single sex school you are going to be isolated from the other gender, you wont ever really get to understand their differences and how they work by just going out with them outside of school. and you wont always going to be in a single sex environment...so you might as well get used to the fact that you are more succesful in the workplace if you know how to work with everyone and have the social skills to do so. just my opinion. any help would be appreciated!! thanks.

In the turmoil and competition of adult life, education and edification is regarded as highly desirable. Without a solid knowledge of your chosen career progression becomes difficult. So as students barely learning about the real world, getting good grades seems very important. Recent study claims that boys and girls learn differently and that having them educated in separate environments could improve grades. But grades are not the only thing that should excel and be taught in school. Socialization with other people, especially people of the opposite sex, is a major part of adult life. Separating boys and girls into different schools on the idea that they learn differently would cause problems in their future lives by hindering their education, their ability to cooperate with the other sex, and creating insecurity and discomfort around others. Public schools around the nation have integrated schools with both boys and girls. Since in preschool, most children have been to school with other children their age, both boys and girls. Learning together is a part of children�s education. Separating them does not mean that their education will improve. Some kids are so used to being together in a classroom with other students opposite their sex that it could entirely disrupt the way they are accustomed to learning. Kids when they get into higher grades can choose to take a course where they would be tutored separately, so segregation by sex is not necessary. If students were separated they would probably become prejudiced against the opposite sex. It is natural for schools to create rivalries against one another so the separate schools of boys and girls could develop the same thing. One or both of the schools would gain a feeling of superiority. People can not learn how to work together if they cannot practice. In most any job or position, there are coworkers of both female and male gender. They have to be able to work together and cooperate in a friendly and comfortable manner. In school it is necessary to learn the skill of socialization � for it is a skill � at an early age. Being able to be cooperative and agreeable with the people you work with is as every part of success as is you education. No one wants to hire a grumpy or unkind person. This kind of attitude which is so repulsive only comes from being uncomfortable with other people. In a separate school environment, this uncomfortable would only increases. In order to feel ok around those of the opposite sex you have to practice and school is the best place to do that. We have to know what is sociably acceptable before we make a mistake.

wellaa i believe that both have there upsides and downsides. Considering the fact that the society we live in today contains both males and females, this doesent exactly mean that we shld go to same sex schools so we can learn to communicate better with the opposite sex. beacuse, if we do live in a society with both males and females then what is preventing us from learning to communicating with them within the society? we can go to a same sex and communicate with boys out of school?? ha ha, its not all too complicated, each person has their own opinion rite, so dont argue bout it! if yu like co ed then go to co ed! if yu like same sex then go 2 same sex!! yeh yeh!! woo! go for it and do what yu believe :) yewwwww!! laterrr =]]]

I am currently writing a paper on the benefits and drawbacks of single-sex schools. It has been interesting to read about the misconception that all private schools are single-sex. This seems to fuel the idea that single-sex schools have a higher academic prestige. There are many coeducational private and public schools that excell in academics. My mother attended a private, single-sex school and she swore to never send either me or my sister to one. My father attended a coed private school and loved it. He attended an Ivy-League graduate school and has been extremely successful. Having classes with both boys and girls prepared him for seeing women every day in the buisnessworld.

Everyone made some good points and I have to say that co-educational schools are better. I attend a co-ed school and to be honest I do believe that single sex schools do have great academic performances but as someone stated "not everyone gets a great job" and I totally agree but being a part of a co-ed school gives you an opportunity to become comfortable with the opposite sex and when it's time to face the real world, you won't have a problem dealing with this situation. But there are also disadvantages going to a co-ed school. Some girls do get distracted and cannot concentrate well and some boys also get distracted due to expressing themselves to get the girls attention and so on. But in all, attending a co-ed school is one of the best things to do.

I am almost sixteen and go to an all boys school. I think it is horrible. Whilst I may learn more, i often get depressed and i feel deprived and jealous of people who go to coed schools. At school, people are judging you on if you have a girlfriend and people also are friends with people JUST BECAUSE THEY KNOW GIRLS!!! this is unethical. At a coed school, you get to experience both genders, which is a vital skill to life. So what if I get a good hsc and become a lawyer, because if i havnt had the experience with girls, then its just not worth living. Going to a coed school is often motivating people at even be at school. It motivates some people to be smart to impress the girls. It just seems totally wrong to be at an all boys school.

Single sex schools are better for females. The school system caters to males. Males are 4 times more likely to be called on than males and they are often asked more complex questions. Females on the other hand, are short changed. In an all girls school girls can excel in math and science. In co-ed schools teachers just assume that males will be better than females, which is unfair. Also, males tend to be the bullies and the ones to distract and speak out in class. Without them as a distraction girls are able to take on leadership roles. Also, while the classes themselves may strictly be one class girls still interact with females. Espicially through clubs. And yes I know this because I went to and all girl's school and have been recently been studying it. While I believe that both coed and single sex schools may have benefits. I don't believe changing to single sex schools would be a quick fix. Education should be one of the main focuses in America. If we had enough money to maximize schools to their full potential a lot would probably be better.

i went to a coed school in primary school and a single sex school in high school, single sex all the way, u develop deeper friendships, and for those knobs who say that u go to a single sex school are more homosexual, get stuffed, i went out all thru year 12 and all through high school, i have plenty of guy friends, we all did, you know nothing of the sort, and for blind dates, i had a prom/formal and graduation, only 2 people needed a blind date and even then they were from a brother school, dont be so biased with your opinion, i know there are pros and cons for both types of schools, but studies have shown that single sex schools provide better academic results..... whats more important anyway an education or making a big deal about the opposite sex

i think that there is not reason to discriminete single sexed or co-ed schools because they both have their advantages and disadvantages. i go to a single-sexed school and in my opinion it's great! but thats no reason for me or anyone to say that in co-ed schools girls/boys cannot develop..that's absolutely nonsence. it's true that some girls feel more confortable in sincle-sexed schools because they feel they can say their own opinion and they do not have to worry to be tidy all day or smth like that...but everybody feels different about this matters concerned with education. i think that amanda is right..there's no reason to think tht in single-sexed schools homosexuals increase, or that we can't develop a relationship with a guy because we are not used to or smth like that many of my friend of course support that co-ed schools are much more better bacause you can see guys everyday and you can have more male friends...but you can make friends out of school and to be honest i have many friend out of school!! anyway i do not desagree with co-ed schools..i just prefer to be in a single-sexed one and thats it!!

Are results better from single-sex schools? It depends what you mean by better results. This year's exam league tables showed all the top 10 performing independent schools at A-level were single-sex schools. In the state sector, too, eight out of the top 10 were either boys' or girls' only. However, a study by Professor Alan Smithers, of the University of Buckingham, due to be published officially tomorrow, indicates that it will make little or no difference whether parents choose a single-sex or coeducational school. Studying state schools in England, he notes that while girls in single-sex comprehensives achieve slightly better results than girls in coeducational schools, there is no difference in performance between boys in single-sex schools and those taught coeducationally. In grammar schools, the reverse is true, with girls in single-sex schools faring no better than those in coeducational schools, while boys taught on their own do slightly better. This is definitely NOT TRUE!!! The results are the same with most of the schools and they all have the same opportunities. Sometimes, co-ed schools turn out better than single sex schools because the co-ed schools offer something that the single sex schools can not offer, a chance to be friend with the opposite gender.

Before, I thought that single sex schools are better, but it took me 6 months to realize that I was held close in my own box and that I didn't see the real world outside it. It offers the same things but it is limited... So I think that a co-educational school is better... and NO it is not because of boys, it is because of the challenges and the things that they teach you in there... We can never escape the fact that we all live in a world where there is 2 different genders.

We are sick and tired of hearing that single sexed schools are far better than co ed schools because they have smaller classes and higher academic scores. We go to a co ed school in upper hutt and we only have 20 people in each class at the most. and so what if single sexed have higher academic scores not everyone will get a job as a lawyer there are other jobs too like acting,singing or a chef. One of the main qualities that will get you places when you are older is interactiveness and social skills with people of the opposite gender. you wont be able to go far with that skill if you weren't brought up around the opposite sex.

Single sex classrooms are a much better way of teaching students. It gives both boys and girls the freedom to explore non-traditional subjects such as IT for girls or music and drame for boys.

i think that....single sex schools would be easier in a younger grade, very easy. because in highschool thats when your relationships w/ the opposite sex are coming together, and sumtimes thats the reason u wake up in the morning is to see that other sex, so i do not know, it depends on the person

I think it is really good that people are giving such opinionative feedback. But I have to say to Amanda. I go to a co-ed school. Don't see a problem with it either. So if you don't have a problem with single sex schools, and I don't have a problem with co-ed schools, why are we making something out of nothing when there are so many other "more important" things to debate. Oh....And I wanna meet Mr Wonderful!!!

.....well....i am writing an essay about this in college today...and my opinion is that both are good....but same-sex schools are doing better than co-ed schools...but i would never go or put my children in same-sex schools eventhough they do better....

I think that if you want to get the most out of your child academically you need to send them to single sex school. However I understand that co-ed schools may be beneficial in older years children need to learn to get them places in life

well i go to a co-ed school at the moment, but i am going to an all girls next year. I think that both are great, single sex schools perform better but then you do need socializing skills and to do that you need to work around the opposite sex. I agree with Amanda's comments what she says is true and very useful.

well I go to a single sex school. Yes I know I am only 14 BUT I believe that being at an all boys school is bad because in the real world there are both males and females and so if we are being exposed to a environment of all boys when it comes time to leave school we will not know how to deal with them. also being at an all guys school makes guys not show emotion because if they do they will get bagged. and believe me single sex schools does not eliminate the "Distractions" in fact it makes us more distracted just thinking about going to an co- ed school

were in a debating team to and we go to a coed school but we are arguing that single sex schools are better. one reason for this is you dont get distracted by the boys in your class or have to worry bout what you act or look like also you get to look forward to seeing your boy friends and you wont get sik of them. you can talk about "girly" things aloud to :)

Well I'm doing a debate for Kristin school and id like to backup that single sex schools are better then co-ed schools because the girls don't have to worry about looking good for us "guys". But i suppose that girls might have to look good for the girls if they are that kind of girl but here is not much girls in high school these days

I think that a coed school is better. At a single sex school, I think you will find that the girls are more catty and the guys will get into a lot more fights than in coed schools. And it might not stop because the parents might have a lot of money or are powerful people. Teachers don't want to lose their jobs over a punch up. I attend a private coed school, and if cattiness or fighting occurs you get sorted out. The public coed school next to us is really out of control, though. I don't know if this is true or anything, and I'm sorry if I offended anyone:)

i couldn't live without the guys at school. my boyfriend goes to the same school as i do and thats the reason i get up in the morning to go to school. it prepares you for adulthood, when you get a job you will most likely have to work with the opposite sex and be able to communicate with them without acting all stupid.
