My Grandfather came from Ireland.  His last name was Kennmare.   He dropped the "E" on the end, and we now spell it Kenmar.  In the early 1960's my father received a letter from the officials in Ireland, telling him about a castle that belonged to the Kenmare family.  There were taxes owed, and he was offered the opportunity to go to Ireland and pay the back taxes owed against the castle, and claim it.  Of course, he could not afford to do this, and the alternative was that it would be sold for the taxes owed.  I have no idea exactly where this castle was located.  I was very young when this happened.  Does anyone know anything about this castle?  I would love to find out any information I could about this or anything else about the Kenmare family history.
