what are the differences between tasks and threads?

A Task is the VxWorks equivalent of a Unix thread-- the distinction is minor in this case because VxWorks supports only a single process, meaning all Tasks share the same process space, all Tasks can reference each others' memory, etc.

Tasks and thread are same, I mean termed differently in different OSes.
