I own a female German Shepherd.  (This is my first time owning a female dog.)  At what age should I expect her to have her first cycle? How long will it last, how often will she go into heat?  And what do I need to put on her when does come into heat, so that my male German Shepherd won't get her pregnant before the proper age?
