I hope u can help me. I am having a well pump problem. I had no signs of any problem with the well then all of a sudden no water.no noise nothing out of faucet. I had called the plumber. He had made the house call It was late at night no stores open. House was built in late 70's I have 200 amp service.Starting from  Main panel - double pole 20 amp breaker wired to a control box that has two 15 amp time delayed fuses from then from where the fuses are those wires go to to pump. He noticed that one of the 15 amp glass fuses was blown. Due to no stores opened he removed the wires to the fuses bypassed then and directly wired up to pump wires going to the outside of the house. Now when breaker was turned on if started to make hissing sounds but never tripped. For about 30 seconds there was power to pump on gauge but then no power but at this time breaker still didn't trip. Then he though maybe the 20 ampdouble pole  breaker went bad. He switched wires from one breaker to another one. breaker didn't make any noise never tripped pressure never built up in pressure tank but the meter gauge when put on pressure tank moved. then he switched wires again for the 20 amps double pole breaker in breaker panel. when turned on this time breaker hissed and sparked. then he switched again and this time it did the same to that breaker. I asked him to hook everything back up to the way it was and wait till morning to buy a new glass fuse for control box. He says that's not the problem. what do u think? please let me know.
