My Father told me that he was Black Irish (name Cronican) says name was changed when the family came to the Americas for fear of their lives.  He had darker skin, dark brown wavy hair, but sky blue eyes.  Does anyone know what the original name was?  Also, my Mother's Father was a Tiernan (she says Shanty Irish).  They are from Pennsylvania, and apparently my Great Great Grandparents were and Irish Man and an Indian Woman (Apache or Cherokee ... in question).  Was told that the Irish men stood around the streets of town, while the Indian women came up the river for supplies in town.  Was also told that one of my Tiernan descendants owned that town, and lost the town to a gambling debt.  Where in Pennsylvania would I find info regarding all of this?  It would be somewhere near Fayette City, where apparently we also own grave sites.  Thank you.
