my 90 dakota don't want to idle,and it acts like it is not...

my 90 dakota don't want to idle,and it acts like it is not getting gas when you drive it.it will run than it acts like the gas is shut off.you let off the gas and than it will run for a few minutes than do it again.it would only do it when it was cold outside now it's all the time
