My air conditioning is blowing cold air , but the air will only come out of the defrost vent on the dash. The push buttons to direct air out different vents will push in , but they don't connect to change air flow.What is needed to correct this? thank you , cat

let me guess, the vehicle is in the 80's?
could people please give more info like age
of car, maybe make? engine size ? all this will help. sounds like vacuum line off,
or worse , connector under dash deteriorating. or vents just stuck. keep radio and everything off , start engine warm up and listen. do you hear that? hissing sound? that is a vacuum leak.
