My daughter's Ford Ranger is making a knocking (clicking) sound, but it will start. She first noticed a problem when oil gauge needle was jumping around; repair shop says she has a leak in oil pan gasket & that the truck had no oil when they checked it. They put oil in it, and now it has oil pressure, but it is still making the noise. They say that she will have to have major engine overhaul or new engine. Is there any hope that the engine isn't ruined if it will still start?
