I have 2001 vw beetle.  Recently the mechanic put in a new temperature control senor in.  Two days after I picked up the car the HOT light came on.  I called the mechanic and they told me to add antifreeze.  The resevior was full and so I called them back and told them that the light came on again (this was the next day)  Now they say that I need a new water pump because the car overheated.  What is the connection?  By the way the car never overheated.  I'm a young woman who hates being talked to like I'm a half wit by mechanics.
