1998 chevy k1500 truck, not codes, 98,000 miles,pings, tried...

1998 chevy k1500 truck, not codes, 98,000 miles,pings, tried different fuel,checking for volitility, no change, cleaned the injector with injector cleaner pressure tank, tried new dist., not sure if cam timing offset is right, otc genysis says timing retard is -1 degree ant 1500 rpm. not sure if procedure is correct. can you help?
