I have a 1992 Jetta with a Turbo Diesel, standard transmission and power steering. Its a  German made Jetta. I have tried for the life of me to remove my power steering gear box housing following Bentley's manual to no avail. The gear box is now loose and off the studs on the sub-frame. I have unbolted the rear transaxle mount and lifted the engine/transaxle with an overhead support. The mount won't come out unless I lift a couple more inches and even then I don't see how it will help. I don't see how it can slide out between the subframe and lower fender on the right or left hand side nor back between the sub-frame and the car underbody. Do I have to remove the sub-frame to get this out? If so does anyone know the details of this - Bentley is silent on sub-frame removal.
