I have a 4 month old male sheltie and a 1 year old female...

I have a 4 month old male sheltie and a 1 year old female sheltie.  The male's hair seems very different from the females.  It is shorter and lays flater to the skin.  I am worrying that the male will not have long hair, what do you think?
