would a siamese cat in-heat act strangely ie: hide constantly-not wanting to be touched-she is not doing the usual kitty dance a cat does when in heat but we just rescued a seal point siamese that someone droped off in the trailer park we live in and she has not wanted to have anything to do with us holding or peting her-she runs and hides?

I'd have to say *no way*.  My siamese howls like there's no tomorrow, seeks out any living thing in hopes of "helping" her.  She presents her backside to all of our cats, male and female, our male dog, and especially to my husband!  Very vocal...VERY VERY vocal...unmistakably siamese.  She's so loud, that she wakes us from sound sleep.

It sounds like your baby is very scared, and has been through something traumatic.  My first siamese was a rescue and she hid a lot for the first month or so.  She then became my very best friend and little soulmate, on and around me all of the time.

I agree with the posts above - my cat is all over us when she is in heat, and gives us the added pleasure of leaving her nasty scent all over the place (YUCK).

We rescued a little guy and he was shy from the get-go. He is a 20 pound cat now that still tries to be inconspicuous - BUT loves and trusts us enormously after years of patience & good love (and not a whole lot of petting). Be persistent, your kitty will come around, she just may not do it in the way you might expect.

i have a siamese that i rescued, but she was just a kitten at the time and has been with me ever since she is VERY vocal too, AT ALL TIMES lol but does get worse when she is in heat and actually she is right now :( and it drives my son krzy lol he is 3 and cant understand why she wont shutup usually she will when you do what she wants lol but like the other said it sounds like she has been through something traumatic, more than likely abuse from people and that is why she doesnt want to be held or petted and is "afraid" of people good luck and hopefully she will come around

My siamese has been in heat for at least 3 months.
Recently she started to spray on vertical surfaces.
We brought in a stud....she scared him.
We brought her to his house, again she hissed at him.
Could she have some other problem??
An infection?

Thanks

My advice is such... get your Siamese spayed immediately (unless you plan to breed).  Our kitties have kept us up every night for a week until we HAD to get them spayed.  Siamese are the most vocal cats I've ever heard and are extremely annoying while in heat.  Once spayed though, they are the most lovable little kitties ever...a true friend.

How do you know if a Siamese cat is in heat?  Mine is about 10 months old and just started howling a little and she gets all stiff and sticks her butt up in the air and kicks her back feet out.

My Snowtiger Siamese is extremely vocal while in heat.  She meows so loudly that she can be heard all the way down the hall in my apartment building.  About the only time she ever hides is when she knows she's in trouble. (ie, clearing all of my things off the desktop, knocking dishes off the counter, etc.)

Believe this or not,  my father was a vet. for 32 yrs before his death.  He also own his own animal hospital.  Grow-in up I was afraid out of my mind of all animals except monkeys.  my children cried, and cried a few years ago to get a dog, I tried but it just didn't work out.  So now 10 years later a very young kitten was in our garage trying to get out the cold.  I decided to leave the garage up all day maybe the cat would leave
but it never did.  The weather was 0 degrees.
I was afraid as usual, my husband and children crying for me to let them bring her in.  I did and she has been with us now since the day before Thanksgiving of 2005.  I believe I
can learn to appreciate cats much better than
dogs.  I have a lot to learn.  I only wished I could learn them from my father.

Hello,I have a siamese kitten 6 months old and she is in heat for the first time. She howls so loud and puts her but up in he air. She rolls around on her back and just howls. Trust me, You will know when your cat is in heat. I think your cat is just scared, it will eventually stop the behavior. Good Luck!!

I also have a Siamese kitten about 4-5 months she won't come out even to eat. I have to search for her, put her in an enclosed space and leave her there until she eats. I have owned her 6 days. I also have a question will she let herself starve to death or should I keep making her eat?

Sophia scares the jesus outta me with her screaming. It's like the kind of sound a malevolous creature would do, just after being wounded in the throat, and blood is pouring out of it, and crawling through the floor, with one hand on the floor and the other one making pressure against the cut, crying for help. YES, it is this scary... VERY VERY scary, and she does it every 10 seconds... then she comes to my lap and offers me her precious flower hehe... crazy cat...

My siamese wanders around the house more when she is in heat howling away, driving everyone crazy.  She never hides or even sleeps when she is in heat. Does anyone have a male they would like to mate?
