Hi guys, I have a VW Polo, 1995, Petrol and am having a problem with stating. When I start it after a few days of no used it will not "fire".

I have narrowed down the fault to the fuel pressure not being maintained in the fuel line. Thus I think it could be one of two problems. The pressure regulator on the fuel rail is failing or a check valve on the fuel pump could be failing (but I cannot confirm that there is a check valve on the fuel pump).

Do you know if this loss in pressure is a common fault and if so would it be the pressure regulator on the fuel rail?

Is there any way of testing the pressure regulator (the mechanics I have spoken to have not been able to test it)?

Thanks

Ed
