i am so confused on inside and outside edges both forwards...

i am so confused on inside and outside edges both forwards and backwards. i thought that on the outside edges,you lean to the right and on inside edges, you lean to the left. Then i learned the lutz jump and the entrance is from a deep backwards outside edge and my coach demonstrated it and he was leaning to the left and inside of the circle. i thought that was supposed to be a backwards inside edge. i am so confused.
