My boxer female has mastitis (I think..) She was slightly leaking clear liquid drops from her back 4 breasts, but today has one very swollen, hard, and warm breast that hangs well below the others--also, when I barely applied pressure, it gooped out (gross) dark green and yellow pus!  All of the info I find only discusses this in relation to her being pregnant, or having just given birth, but I am 98.3% sure she could NOT be pregnant! She was in heat (before anyone gives me crap for NOT spaying here-- you need to know that I HAD her in, sedated, and ready to be "fixed" when the blood results showed the vet she was in a high risk category for renal shut-down, if anesthetized--so they couldn't do it!) last May, but is always locked in our fenced in backyard.  The only way she could be pregnant is if some mystery dog jumped our fence, did it, and jumped back out w/o anyone noticing... besides she shows no other signs other than large nipples, and the now leaking and infection of her breast(s).  Is it possible for dogs to have mastitis w/o babies?  What should I do? I'm planning on calling the vet tomorrow--BTW
