Does anyone remember a fictional ghost story about a man who spends a night in a haunted house along with his terrier,which dies of fright during the stay. The only lights he had was candlelight. All kinds of things happen to him like seeing the footprints of a child. I read this story during the 70's

If anyone has any ideas on this I would appreciate it.  Thanks

I remember something like that i think it was in one of those (SCARY STORIES, AND MORE SCARY STORIES), it was a short series of books that told scary stories i think it was threee of them you might want to lokk in some of those books.

I agree with the other response, I think it was from one of those "Scary Stories to tell in the dark" books... and yes, there were three.
