Why were the veterans treated so harshly? I personally find the treatment of these heroic men and women who served their country in an event that was as much their fault as it is ours to be totally amazing and had the fact been put forward to the generation we live as part of today, the answer and response to such a threatening happening would be cold and unwanted. The veterans have on the most part had a rough time since returning, especially those who were effected either mentally or physically while serving their nation. Why was there not a better employment plan released after the results of the first attempt to put these people into work were finalized? Why was there not a better insurance firm established to help the with their financial difficulties after spending such a period of time in service (even if it was still government run it would have to be better than the system that was eventually put in place). Take a look at the aged care facilities that are provided specifically for these veterans. Are they as numerous in quantity and as available as the huge population of veterans that still live need?

australian government treated the returend soldiers in an un Australian manner. The returned soldiers recieved no help with the crippling affects of Agent Orange, and post war depression was not being dealt with by the RSL or counselling. The RSL rejected veternas of the vietnam war. In 1979, the WAA ( Vietnam Veterans Association) was formed and this organisation helped the veterans of the Vietnam War. Without these men, today the veterans of vietnam would still be treated, basically, like scum
