I have a 1997 Dodge Avenger. For 2 weeks now the car acts up on Saturday's. (I know this sounds wierd). But the check engine light turns on and the car gets stuck on 2nd gear. I can only drive it at about 20 MPH and I am already hitting 5000 RPMS. There is also this noise that it makes like metal kind of. I did take it to auto zone and they checked a code that said computer malfunction. So I thought it was the computer. But then I took it to a tranmission shop and they took the oil pan out and there was alot (I mean ALOT) of shredded metal pieces in there. What do you think?
