from what I read about dew how come dew doesn't get on the grass under a tree? that's all, thanks.

Since dew comes from the air and you have the effect of gravity pulling down the moisture it is going to be on top of the tree there is still moisture on the grass under the tree it is just not a noticeable amount, since the volume of the air is significantly less between the tree and the grass than above the tree.  SEE?
