I need help fast! Last Saturday I picked up my 11 week old puppy from the breeder, she is very tiny, 1 lb 5 ounces when we got her, the breeder said she had a cough from the bordetella shot she gave her. She said the same thing about my last chi (a male I bought from her 3 months ago) and his went away so I took her word for it. Well "Dolly Lion's" Cough didnt go away, infact it got worse and worse, over the weekend, and our vet appointment wasnt until tuesday morning. Well Tuesday morning I took her in, and he said not only does she have an upper respritory infection but also bronchitis, as well as a build up of yeast and ear mites in her ears. Needless to say I am so dissapointed in this breeder, however thats not my immediate concern and I will not get into that. He put Dolly on Clavamox liquid, and also an ear drop, i cant think of the name off the top of my head..well he told me if the clavamox didnt start making her more active in a day or too come back in. Well Thursday morning she was coughing so much, before it was every 15 minutes or so she would cough, and now suddenly it was every 15 seconds. I was so worried I called the vet and he told me not to worry but to bring her in the next morning. (This morning) Now let me add, she barely eats, and like I said I have another one, who is perfectly healthy and 5 lbs, which is a great weight, she barely eats 1/2 a teaspoon 4 times a day, she does not drink at all...for the life of me I cannot get her to drink. Not with an eye dropper, not with a bottle, not with a dish, not on my finger. My male chi actually will get water and hold his tounge out to try to get her to drink it. He is very aware something is wrong. So continuing at the vet, she dropped to 1 lb! In 2 days, the vet took x-rays to make sure it wasnt pneumonia, and said they looked okay, he said it was going to take time for her to start feeling better (after he told me id see an improvement soon) he gave her an iv just with water, and she had a large lump for awhile, however within an hour she completely soaked her puppy pad, (I can barely get her to go more then 1ce a day and its always very small, which i can understand she doesnt eat or drink. I am at a loss, I loved this vet, I trusted him, I pay 3 times as much as I would at any other place just because I believed he was the best, however I keep calling him saying...maybe we can do this, or that, and he says "yea okay you could do that" why isnt he coming up with any ideas? I need help, Im at a loss, im frustrated, and heart broken, Im watching her die slowly before my eyes, theres nothing left to her, when I picked her out she was perfect, by AKC standards she was absolutely perfect in every way, and she is cute as a button, light fawn with a perfect creme heart on her forehead, too cute for words, and now I dont even look at her and think she is cute, I look at her and all I see is a sick dog, her face is thin, and her legs are skinny shes now under 1 lb, and I fear its coming to that time. I cant say whether the breeder should have done something different, could have prevented this, and I dont know if there is more the vet could have done. I dont know if iv failed, maybe I have. Iv shoved a bottle down her throat while i sit there and cry, but she will not consume it, no milk, no pedialyte, i even tried gatorade in the water for electrolytes. If anyone lives in the Kansas City Kansas/Missouri area and is licensed and can help I will compensate and would greatly appreciate that, if anyone has any contacts or advice I will read it all, and thank you in advance.
