Hello,

I am a beginning diver attempting to get my C-card.  Our instructor gave us some questions to answer for the next class and I have found the answers (and learned a lot too) for all of them but one...I was hoping that you could help?

Please let me know if you have the answer to the following question.

"What would you do if you were diving as a 4 person dive team and you are diver #1.
All of a sudden, you notice a group of sharks start swimming around you, diver # 2 motions to you that she is out of air.  Diver # 3 bolts to the surface and diver # 4 starts jumping all over you to hide from the sharks?"

If you have a good answer to this random question, PLEASE email me @ wahinevp@longboard.net and let me know!

Thank you! V

Aloha, V.

1..if a group of sharks are swimming around you then they are just curious of you and intend no harm
2..offer the diver your aas(alternative air source
3..leave the diver bolt to the surface
4..signal diver 4 that you and diver no2 are returning to the surface, training demands that diver 4 must accompany you, procede in a slow manner and safely return to the surface.
you then can inform the surface party as to what happened during the dive and of the fast accent that diver 3 did, they then can ensure emergency services can be on hand if any symptoms occur...ie..decompression sickness, joint pains, nausea, sickness, mottling if the skin etc

Well, think for a min. Which one is going to die first? Diver #4 is okay for now. You cant catch diver #3 unless you bolt up yourself. And here you have diver #2 out of air about to die. After you give Diver #2 your octopus go and grab Diver #4 and calm him. Once you reach the surface you should call medical service for Diver #3 because he could be a gonner!  Hope this helps!
