My wife's 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited (5.2L) has been giving us trouble. Sending unit went bad awhile ago and so we have been going by odometer readings (history). Three weeks ago she filled up on gas and then it would start, run rough and die. Two bottles of dry gas and it is running fine for a week or so, fills up on gas drives a short distance and the car dies. 2 bottles of dry gas, some trouble getting it going but eventually does and is ok for 2 days and then same thing. I got it home, got it started and now the sending unit works sporadically. This has become a pain. Before I drop tank and replace the entire fuel ass. module what else can I do. Is this maybe an electrical problem? Relay checks out. I have heard that these fuel pumps can dry out if you let the gas get to low but, then why is the sending now starting to work? I am using a Hanes manual.
