I have a 1998 VW Jetta GLX VR-6 and the Check Engine light...

I have a 1998 VW Jetta GLX VR-6 and the Check Engine light keeps getting activated.  I have taken it to the dealer twice (not fixed) and my independent.  The problem just won't seem to go away.  I need suggestions as to what to check.  Any helps would be greatly appreciated.  Latest repair involved replacing intake hose and vent valve.
