The start-codes are unique identifiable patterns used by MPEG-4 Visual. To prevent start-code emulation due to the combination of VLC/FLC codes, MPEG-4 Visual strategically puts marker bits in its syntax and includes invalid VLC codewords in symbol tables. Try to describe this mechanism in detail, and explain how MPEG-4 simple profile successfully reaches this goal.
