Replaced starter which failed then was replaced again. Started OK for 2 weeks then failed to start. Battery checked out OK but car won't start after jumping. May be related to courtesy lights coming on after headlights turned off draining battery way too quickly, but then battery should start after jumping, which it doesn't. One mechanic said that the starter draws too much power from the solenoid (I am not a car person...) so that even when repaired there would still be an unpredictable problem that could cause failure to start at any time. Design flaw? Made on a Friday?? Thanks.

I had same problem and replaced starter several times. Found that parts house was
selling me used starters with the ends from
my old starter. Bought new starter from
Olds agency and never had starter failure
again.
