I am thinking of getting a one year old male pit bull mix...

I am thinking of getting a one year old male pit bull mix from the rescue.  He seems very loving and docile and was given away due to a divorce.  My concern is that I have a nine year old lab/ausie mix female.  Also very docile and loveable but due to her age and being use to having the run of the family, she may give that lower growl "leave me alone" attitude towards the young pup until she gets use to her.  How do you think the pit mix may react?  Should I be concerned beyond normality of a new dog in the family?
