OK, I'm wanting to get an Aussie, I've wanted one for 6 years now. I think I might have finally won my parents over, my mom says if I'm going to get one, it'll be decided in the next 2-3 weeks. But now I'm a little worried. I know how to handle a high energy dog, I used to have a German Shorthair Pointer who was WAY too hyper for his typical breed standard. But I'm kinda worried about an Aussie being even more hyper. I know I want to go on at least 3 long runs each day with my dog, and I really want to get into agility and obedience. Does anyone think this is enough to keep an Aussie satisfied, or would he grow board of these things and begin having problems? I got a book about other active activities you can do with your dog, and I think I might try some of them too. And spending time with him would not be a problem at all, I'm home schooled, so he'd he like my company during the day. My daily schedule looks like this: Wake up, eat breakfast, take Sam (dog I wantsname) for a run, come home, do my work, play with my cat for a while, take Sam on a run, go home and eat lunch, go outside and work on training Sam, then play games with him for a while, go inside, play with my cat for a while, take Sam on a run, when my parents get home take him out to train some more, play with my cat, then go on another run, and then, finally, come home and relax with my cat and dog. Do you think that's good enough typical day (not including ones witch I would take him to the dog park to train for agility) to keep an Aussie happy? Also does anyone have any opinions on if females or males are better? And I really need to know if an Aussie can get along with my cat, who's really not active at all.
