I have been searching for the software "Microsoft Visual Basics V6.0 Professional" but to no avail.  Has this software been discontinued?  I went to 6 different stores to seek this software out, when I know a few weeks ago, I saw it on the shelves.  I have searched various web sites and am told that the product is either not in stock or discontinued.  If this software has been discontinued, what other program would be comparable to this one.  I am a new user for this kind of software.  I am looking for a good software for programming applications.  Your help and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
Visual Basic 6 was discontinued in 2002, although support for it is still available. It and Visual C++ have been replaced by the "Visual .Net" software range. For more information goto www.microsoft.com. Although Visual basic is a reasonably powerful language with lots of facilities, it does lack power and flexibility in certain areas. Visual C (or C++) is usually considered a better option. But it really depends on the sort of applications you will be creating.

Hope I've helped.
