I got my septum pierced on the 19th with a 14g retainer.  Afterward, I had a quick glimpse at it in the mirror, and it looked fine and pretty straight. Then the piercer flipped it up in my nose. Since then, I've been cleaning it with Dial in the shower and then some warm saline. Yesterday morning, I left the retainer down after I got out of the shower, and I looked in the mirror. Lo and behold, the piercing was crooked; not just slightly askew, but pretty darn crooked.

Is this just due to uneven swelling? (My left nostril is a bit more tender than the right.) And is this going to cause it to heal crooked and wonky?

they can never get it fully straight... no one's nose is perfect.. .if you slightly tug on it a little while cleansing it will help it straighten... it should fall straighten a little as it heals... always good to check with your peircer if you're not sure..

I just got my septum done, and because everyone uses their facial muscles asymmetrically, it's going to become a bit crooked. Everytime you notice it gets that way, just put the ring/whatever you have in there, back into place and in a few weeks it should heal straight ... but if your septum is already healed, all you can really do is either stretch it and do the above, or get it repierced and keep an eye on it.

Thats wrong i know for a fact i had my septum done and it looks o crooked worried i asked several piercers if it will stay crooked and was told that most piercings look crooked due to swelling which can occur no matter what the age of the piercing if it was pierced straight then when the swelling goes down it should be a straight septum. Although it is possible to be pierced crooked.

so i know im like a couple years off on this dead post, but this came up in a google search.

i got mine done on the 20th of this month, [4 days ago] and the exact thing happened to me. i glanced at it and it looked fine, the piercer flipped it up and i left. and it is WAY crooked. one side is forward and lower than the other.

what did you end up doing with yours?

[if anyone answers]

so last night i got my septum done.
its not really crookes just a little higher up on my right side.
i have a little clear thing in it so you cant even tell that it is pierced yet. i am waiting for it to heal before i put anything else in it.

if it is slightly crooked will it be that noticable?
