when i start up half life and attempt to play an error comes...

when i start up half life and attempt to play an error comes up and says "abnormal program termination" and so i cant play HI or cs

i have the same problem and i wish i knew the answer but i think maybe it is my video card because it will let me play in software mode but not opengl lol i have a geforce mx440
