I have a 4 month old Persian kitten who got his 3rd set of boosters on Monday. He did fine with the other shots. (Not right away,) he began acting out of sorts and quit playing. I took him to the vet on Thursday and it was determined that he had some sort of reaction to the shot, which included Feline Leukemia and he might not survive this. His red blood count was low, he was dehyrated and running a fever. I have been hydrating him, giving him Clavamox, PetTinic and Feline AD. Today, on Saturday, even though he is still running a temp of 104, his hydration is alot better and he does purr at times and walks around to get to what he wants. The vet said that his attitude is good. Has anyone experienced this and what are my chances for his survival and if so, how long will this last? The vet said that it could take weeks for him to come out of this. I am devastated by this occurrence.

I see that you posted your question over a year ago. What happened to your kitten? Currently, mine has the same symptoms.

Please help.

I have 2 Persians and the breeders I got my kittens from warned me to never give a Persian cat the Feline Leukemia shot.  It will get them very sick and most likely give them cancer down the road.  Persians just can't handle it.  They have been breeding for 26 years so they know what they're talking about.
