Re: Bringing a puppy into the home of an older golden.

My family and I have a dearly loved 11 year old purebred golden.  She has been the best dog we have ever had, and is still fairly active, but we are afraid she does not have many years left.  Our dilemma is this: We eventually want to get a new golden puppy, for when she has died, but we are unsure of when to get one.  On the one hand, if we were to get a new puppy now, while our dog is still fairly healthy, we feel that she might be able to socialize and help to train this new puppy by modeling good behavior.  On the other hand, though, we are half afraid that a new puppy may be hyper and annoy Megan (our dog), and we want her last years to be as happy and peaceful as possible.
