I have a 1998 Plymouth Neon that has picked up a rattling sound under hard acceleration. I have recently changed out the water pump, belts (including the timing belt), a fuel sensor, plugs and wires, air filter, pcv valve, and probably a few other things I'm forgetting and yet the noise is still there. It is barely apparent if at all during idle or cruising speeds then returns or gets louder when I'm on the throttle. I thought maybe the timing was off from when the water pump and belts were changed but took it to a shop and had them double check it and it was dead on. They also ran a compression test, and checked the cat converter and still no answers. Anyone have any thoughts as to what could be my problem? It seems to run ok despite the noise but it's starting to concern me.
