I have a chi new to our home. She is 2 years old spayed and we got her from another family. She had adjusted remarkably well. She has bonded with me completely and is great with the kids and my husband. We love her so much already!

The only problem is that she was supposed to be housebroken. If she was at one time she is not now. I clean up her messes with  soapy white vinegar water. I am trying to limit her the kitchen to paper train her. I need to know a correct way to get her to use the pads in the kitchen. I cant have her peeing on my carpet. She has not used the pads yet. I know to praise her desired behavior and to not yell at her bad. When she had an accident I just place her on the pad in the kitchen.
I tried to place pad when she was going on the carpet but I have children who like to run around and will run on the pads so that will not work.
My husband will not tolerate a unhousebroken dog. He had two chis growing up and his were unbroken and he feels she should be also. I hope she will!
