No--shells are composed primarily of the mineral calcium carbonate, CaCO3.  In shells, the CaCO3 crystals are aligned, which
makes them strong.  Blackboard chalk is also made from CaCO3, but the crystals in chalk are unaligned and that makes chalk "crumbly".

Coral polyps are alive, but their "homes" (also made of calcium carbonate) are not.

A sea shell is not a living thing, but the "home," if you will, of mollusks and certain kinds of crabs. The bodies of these animals are soft and vulnerable, and are thus in great danger outside their protective covering. While hermit crabs occupy the discarded shells of other animals, clams, snails, etc. form their shells by secreting certain substances.

I think a shell is a none living thing because it does not move. They  are none living because shells are composed primarily of the mineral calcium carbonate.
