I recently received a speeding ticket in Yosemite National Park.  I was cited for speeding 50 in a 35.  Plus cited for not having proof of insurance and finally for having an expired drivers license.  I argued with the US Ranger that the speed limit was not posted.  After getting the ticket, I back tracked and varified that the speed limit had not been posted for a 5.5 mile segment.  However in the other direction, the speed was posted appx every mile during the same segment of highway. Q1) Can I argue the case in court based on lack or adequate speed limit posting? Q2) I actualy had insurance, but since I had just purchased the car 10 days prior, there hadn't been enough time for my insurance to send the proof of insurance card yet.  I've already sent the court a copy of my insurance and settled it but I'm wondering if the issuance of the citation to begin with was legal? Q3) It was a surprise to me that my D.L. was expired.  I've always relied on DMV to send me a renewal notice.  Last year I didn't get one.  I'm assuming its because I changed my address since my last renewal.  However, since I have four vehicle and a boat registered with my current address, I've assumed that DMV knows my current address.  Is this a bad assumtption and how should I fight this ticket?  Obviously I need to get my drivers license renewed, but is there a special angle I should try with the court. I was quoted by the court clerk that the fine for driving on an expired license is $270.  Any help to these questions would be appreciated.
