We were adopted by a cat that fits the description you have here of Maine Coon Cats (a shame he didn't bring papers with him!) Anyway, one of his characteristics that I don't see listed are 'feathers' from between his toes on the bottom of his feet.  He definitely has a problem with stopping and/or skidding on our tile floors.  He is a delightful animal, wonderful disposition, wallows on his back, and we are quite pleased that another of the 'strays' that the Kitty God had to share came to us.  Do all Maine Coon Cats have the 'feathered' feet?
