I just got a pit/lab mix. I got her over a smaller dog because I wanted not only a good family pet but a dog that would offer protection being that Im a single mother with a child. My question is... I do NOT want her to be agressive towards my friends/family but I also dont want her to be so docile that anyone can enter my yard/house and she'll want them to pet her. Are there specific ways of training for this? She is 5 weeks old and at 8 weeks we start basic puppy obedience class but that just teached the basic come, sit, etc. How do you train a dog to know the difference between good and bad people HUMANELY? Would I need to introduce her to everyone who is good and have her not like everyone else? I wouldnt want her attacking a child that comes into the yard either. How do you teach the dog to know the difference? Can you? I am a first time dog owner (freaking out!!!) and need as much help as I can get! Thanks!
