I just brought "Kerby" home after having a urinary blockage...

I just brought "Kerby" home after having a urinary blockage taken care of. The receptionist requested we keep him confined to a room (bathroom) for a couple days, because of leakage. My question is, will this have an effect on his behavior afterward? He usually has full run of the house, and is usually near my husband and I at all times. I'm feeling horrible about this...
