I dont know what it is but the same thing is happening to mine.  I had it for a little while and in the beginning it was red (i thought maybe it was a blood blister) then it got less red and more neutral in color.  i woke up this morning and blood, pus and tissue came out.. im kind of scared because i know the ring isnt infected because it is beneath the hole.. my best suggestion is that it is an irritation from the ring..

I had one to but it got so bad i had to take it out. i would advise you to take yours out before the cyst gets to bad.i thought it would go away but it ended up as a hole and now is a nasty scar so make sure after you take it out to clean the area.

yeh ive been trying to figure the same thing out... i have one to and i read somewhere that it could just be from messing with it... so maybe like leave it alone other than cleaning in for like 2 weeks and see if it gets better
