Do you walk pugs outside in the winter time. Can pugs become trained to the catbox. Can pugs tolerate the cold weather. This is my first pug and winter will be here one day. I want to be prepared for it. I don't  want my pug MISHA to catch a cold. Please respond to my question.

yes, I live in the northeast and my pug puppy was ok in the snow. He didn't love it but he did his business and was ok about it, he was only 4 months. Pugs do better in the cold than hot anyway. Cold is not a problem for them. I'm not sure about the catbox. Pugs are kinda hard to train so I'm not sure that would work. Good luck and let me know if it does!

Thank you so much Rosalie for answering my question.Pugs do better in the cold, I did not know that.My brother also says that is true due to the pug's nose, breathing for them is better in the cold seasons. Maybe that's why he keeps his air conditioning on constantly now that it is summer.
Take care:)

My pug likes the catbox more than outside.  He is well-trained using it.

My pug loves the snow. The higher the better! Although rain is another matter.
As for using the cat box...one morning I came down and found something that was definitely NOT deposited by my cats. What a surprise. He had watched them use it many times. I guess he had to go and knew I wouldn't be up anytime soon so he followed their lead! He's done it a number of times since (out of desperation) but still looks forward to his daily ritual of a morning walk and visit to his favorite depository.

My pugs were "piddle pad" trained for their first year, in between going outside. It helped them when they couldn't hold it and wait to go outside. They are completely housebroken now (age 2 years) but once in a while they will go on the pad.

This is helpful training for old age dogs when tend to lose control of their bladders. They will remember this training, and it will save your carpets and furniture.

Yes, you can litter box or pad train your pugs. In fact, for some people who live in NYC, it's the only way to do it, if you live 50 floors about street level, how is your dog going to hold it long enough to get there?

Stores like Petsmart also carry doggie litter boxes and filler made by Purina. It's expensive, but worth investigating if your serious about litter box training.

Actually my pug Fern is trained to use a pan with newspaper. It is like a litter box but we change the paper about twice a day. Do not underestimate the pugs brain.
