it's in the computer which is located on the driver's side, left front fender.  Advanced Auto has it for $159.

Hello there. You should really come over to Allpar.com, and check out the EEK forum, because we all know about K cars over there.

From the sounds of things, it could be a couple of items. The Auto Shutdown Relay, the SMEC module, dead battery, or bad Hall Effect Pickup sensor.

The ASR is located under the hood on the driver's fender. The SMEC is located under the battery tray. The battery should be obvious. And the Hall Effect is located in the distributor, and can be easily removed when you take off the wires, cap, and rotor.

Check you codes. Turn the key to On, then Off, then On, then Off, then On. Do NOT start the engine. The CHECK ENGINE light will blink sequences that form numbers. Go onto Allpar and look those codes up. That will give you a clue.

Good luck.

After going through to many expensive DEAD ENDS to talk about, I finally found that it was my fuel pump that was not functioning properly. The secondary problem was that my FUEL FILTER was clogged! Save yourself a lot of money an go through these steps!!!!!!!!
