I have a two year old Ragdoll.  I also have 2 dogs and a 16 1/2 year old Balinese cat. Over 3 weeks ago I rescued a Maine Coon cat.  All the cats are neutered males. My Ragdoll is the only pet who is having great difficulty with the addition of the rescue. The rescued cat is non-aggressive.  He does not hiss or growl.  However, the Ragdoll will hiss and growl any time he sees the other cat. The other cat will not stare at him and often walks away. I have been surprised it is taking the Ragdoll so long to adjust. I have tried various forms of behavior modification that I have read about ... but to no avail. I am hoping that the Ragdoll will soon adjust, but I am concerned that he will not.  Any suggestions?
